PERFECT LOCATION

Pauline and Åke discovered the perfect location for holiday accommodation whilst visiting Beauly in 1987 and we knew that in Dunsmore Lodges, we had found the perfect self-catering business we had been searching for: a beautiful unique rural location with panoramic views over the hills of Glen Affric and south towards the Grampian mountains.  Our guests comment upon arrival - "you live in paradise!" And for a couple who love all outdoor pursuits, it is paradise.  The freedom we feel here, to walk out of the front door, take in the view and then decide which way to approach the hills, east, west? Endless possibilities to enjoy this unspoilt vast open terrain, to stand on top of the hills and see forever.

PERFECT PEACE AND PRIVACY

Dunsmore Lodges are situated at the end of a no-through road, 4 miles west of Beauly, in grounds of 20 acres, on a south facing wooded hillside. No noise, air or light pollution. Wake up and hear only the sound of the birds singing, see the fantastic star-filled sky at night - in autumn you may see the magical Aurora Borealis - smell the pure air. Relax in the peaceful and private setting of the chalets and enjoy the abundant wildlife. Watch the rabbits scampering across the grounds or spot a passing roe deer, pine marten, stoat, partridge or pheasant. There are enough species of birds to satisfy the most avid bird-watcher, with regular visits from Birds of Prey such as Red Kites, Buzzards and the occasional Osprey. And if you want to see red deer in the wild, just walk up onto the hills behind us.

PERFECT BASE

Beauly is in the very heart of the Scottish Highlands, a short scenic drive from Loch Ness and Inverness and gateway to five glorious Highland Glens. An unbeatable base for touring: take a day trip north up to John O’Groats, south to the Cairngorms, west to Fort William, Glen Coe and the Isle of Skye. In Beauly you will find a wide variety of quality shops, restaurants, a Visitor Centre, the historical Priory and a unique large square with floral displays each summer, providing the backdrop to the Beauly Pipe Band’s weekly performances.

We have prepared an extensive guide for you to make the most of your vacation, gained from personal experience and extensive research. We have climbed all 284 ‘Munros” which are Scottish Hills over 3000 feet; the majority achievable in a day trip. We also enjoy orienteering, cycling, golf, skiing, canoeing - and Scottish Country Dancing! We are always happy to guide you in the right direction for whichever cultural or sporting attraction appeals to you and for our overseas visitors, we can communicate in all Scandinavian languages; German and French.
